Montco pledges to match funds for Manayunk Bridge

The Montgomery County Commissioners voted 3-0  to match potential grant funds for the refurbishing of the Manayunk Bridge over the Schuylkill River, linking the Cynwyd Trail and the Schuylkill River Trail.  This project is turning into a love fest.

Cynwydheritagetrail.com is part of an ongoing collaboration between the Township of Lower Merion and the Lower Merion Historical Society to fulfill the requirements of our Preserve America Grant, which provides support in the dissemination of information on the trail and trail-related events.  Keep your eyes peeled for trail historical signage later this year!

The Schuylkill River: Past and Present

Bryn Mawr Film Institute
Thursday, May 17th, 7pm

Join us for a night of history and discussions of current open space plans along the Schuylkill River.

Learn what it means to be part of a Heritage Area, and hear updates about, well, the Manayunk Bridge, of course!

With so much going on on the trail, it is hard for your humble webmaster to keep up.  In the past month, volunteers and the Friends of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail have created new beds and planted some 2500 native plants.  Bala Troop One put in some rocking bat houses, and parks and rec installed bike racks and benches.

Special shout out to West Laurel Hill Cemetery, who brought some much-needed muscle to a bed preparation session, and to the boy scouts.  It’s all coming together!
